For one of our customers, the operator of a large warehouse with three NH\u2083 refrigeration systems, we were asked to assist with a fault-prone system. Our team was on site at short notice and was able to restore the system to a stable and efficient operating state through targeted analysis and technical measures. <\/p>

<\/p>

Plant overview<\/h3>

The warehouse is supplied by three separate refrigeration systems:<\/p>

1\u00d7 single-stage NH\u2083 compound system<\/strong> for normal cooling<\/p>

2\u00d7 two-stage NH\u2083 compound systems<\/strong> for the deep-freeze areas<\/p>

In one of the standard cooling systems,<\/strong> malfunctions occurred during operation, which led to high loads on the condensing unit and unstable control conditions.<\/p>

<\/p>

On-site analysis – identified problems:<\/h3>

Extraneous air in the NH\u2083 refrigerant circuit<\/strong> \u2192 caused unstable pressure conditions and poor heat transfer<\/p>

Defective high-pressure transmitter<\/strong> \u2192 supplied incorrect values to the control system<\/p>

Condenser permanently under full load<\/strong> \u2192 high condensing pressures with a condensing temperature that is too cold at the same time<\/p>

Measures implemented:<\/h3>

Professional venting of<\/strong> the refrigerant circuit<\/p>

Replacement of the defective transmitter<\/strong> to restore reliable control<\/p>

Adjustment of the control parameters<\/strong> to optimize the condensation performance<\/p>

The following image shows an excerpt from the system visualization – specifically the control behaviour of the condenser fans for controlling the high pressure.<\/p>

  • Blue line:<\/strong> High pressure curve<\/li>
  • Yellow line:<\/strong> Fan requirement<\/li><\/ul>

    Before our application:<\/strong>
    Despite 100% fan demand, the pressure increased continuously. The utilization of the fans showed a restless, clocking behavior without any noticeable effect on the pressure level. <\/p>

    After troubleshooting:<\/strong>
    An even, stable pressure profile with moderate fan utilization shows the success of the measures implemented. The system has been running reliably and energy-efficiently ever since. <\/p>

    Result:<\/h3>

    Stable operation<\/strong> of the affected cooling system<\/p>

    Normalized condenser load<\/strong> and significantly reduced energy consumption<\/p>

    Restoration of operational safety<\/strong> without interfering with the other system areas<\/p>
